Exercises People Should Avoid To Prevent Injury

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

Exercises people should avoid are sometimes even traditional moves passed on from time to time which are, unknowingly, not really beneficial at all and may even cause more harm than good.

Exercises people should avoid those not founded on facts

A lot of people believe that exercise is ideally good and that is correct, but the question lies on how some of those moves are carried out. In fact, some of the traditional exercise moves may even be harmful for some, especially those that are experiencing joint, muscle or some other health problems.

That is why it is always important to know what’s in store for your workout program and to prepare by making sure that you have a clean bill of health before doing any physical or workout program.

As they say, never walk on hot coals if you have nothing on your feet.

Exercise moves that can put you at risk of injury

Make no mistake, the exercise moves listed below does not necessarily mean they are totally bad, the point is that due to the nature of these exercise moves, it can place undue stress on body parts that may be going through some unhealthy circumstances like an injury or inflammation.

Here are some considerations you may need to watch out for;

  • Any movement that may cause discomfort or pain no matter how light or difficult.
  • Movements that may increase muscular imbalance that are already existing
  • Unnatural or unusual movements or patterns of exercise
  • Movements that require joint flexibility beyond your range of motion
  • Risky exercise moves that is likely to cause more harm than good.

Behind the head lateral pull downs

Experts believe that pulling the bar behind the neck causes too much stress on the shoulder joints that it could even cause your neck and back to misalign. It causes an unstable effect and pushes the top of the humerus outward and away from the joint.

Instead, use the standard lateral pull-downs toward your chest, the benefits are way better and is safer.

Hovering leg lifts

It is effective in engaging the abdominal muscles and core, unfortunately, it applies undue stress on the lower back and can lead to injury. The risk is too high for this move and you’d rather do planks and bicycle crunches, which are ideal ab workout routines with the most punch.

Seated knee extensions

This may be popular for those who want to work on their quads, but is in fact also a risky move. Applying too much weight on the knees when fully extended may cause shear stress on the knee joint that could end up injuring the tendons and cause too much compression on the knee cartilage.

Do simple squats and lunges instead, they are safe alternatives that help build your quads and at the same time, even help shape your calves and inner thighs.

Extreme inner and outer thigh machine exercises

These gym machines may be good for a certain degree of pressure that they apply, but placing too much weight and resistance can strain small muscles and increase the risk of injury for those with lower back and hip problems, especially when done in a seated position.

To avoid further damage, just make sure to perform standing adduction and abduction, lying adduction or Pilates workouts that make use of resistance bands. Just make sure to start with smaller weights and gradually increase the load, instead of overloading right away.

Sudden overloading

Unless you have been fully prepped to carry a lot more load, then avoid doing sudden overloading. This may cause more injury and may even strain some tendons and ligaments and not worth the trouble.

Make sure to start small and slow, allow your body to adjust, especially those who are above 40.

Always remember to listen to your body and not overdo what you think is good for you lest it may turn out opposite from what you expect.

Increasing Triceps Mass Using Effective Conditioning Exercises

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

Increasing triceps mass depends on how you would like to have it built and developed, as well as conditions that need to be considered before starting your workout.

Increasing Triceps Mass with effective routines

This has always been the ultimate goal of weightlifters – to build arms mass not only for strength but also for aesthetics. But one’s things’ for sure, you need to be aware of the right methods and approaches for proper muscle development.

Of course, one has to be reminded that theirs is no such thing as an overnight success, you may be able to speed up the process a bit, but that’s just about it.

Understanding your muscles

Making sense of how your body reacts to physical factors and changes are crucial for you to be able to understand how your workouts and training programs are effective for you.

You just do not go to the gym and see a physically-fit bodybuilder and mimic what he is doing, thinking that you just might get the same results. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

There are a lot of factors at play when developing your workout plan from diet, nutritional requirements, body weight, etc.

The triceps

The triceps make up the three muscle heads at the back of the arms. They are the lateral head, medial head and the longhead, which is the largest of the three.

Most often, the biceps or the front arm muscles, are to ones that are usually given focus by many bodybuilders, however, toning the triceps also allow the arms to have more muscle definition and adds a bonus to strength and endurance for workouts aside from making your arms look good.

Effective triceps workout routines

Here are some of the common yet most effective workouts that can help get that definition for your triceps.

Dips

This is one of the most convenient exercise moves that pack a lot of punch that can give your triceps the development it deserves. It needs no sophisticated machinery or equipment and all you need is a stable elevated bar or flat surface.

Look for a dipping bar or bench or if outside a gym, a sturdy bench or table will do. If you are working out in a gym, set yourself up on top of the bench with feet on one bench and arms on the other.

Lower yourself until both arms are in a 90 degree angle, then move back up. Repeat the steps. If at home. Place a chair approximately two feet away from your couch and do the same process as you did on the dipping bench.

Close-grip bench presses

Assume a bench press position but this time, make sure both hands are closer together approximately two fists apart. Do the one-third top lockout repeatedly to work the triceps.

Pushdowns

Take hold of a bar, handle or rope and extend the arms downward until lockout then slowly release. Repeat the steps several times.

Triceps extension

Grab hold of a dumbbell, secure it firmly with both hands and raise it up behind your head. Carefully lower it to the lower part of your head but not to let it fall too far back. Raise it back up overhead by extending the arms upwards. Repeat the steps.

Clapping diamond pushups

Get down on all fours and assume a push up position, with both hands situated in front of your chest instead of shoulder level. Make sure your hands are close enough to form a diamond shape with your index fingers and thumbs.

Start getting a momentum by doing at least 10 pushups in this position. As you proceed, try to exert force to allow you to lift both hands just enough for you to clap then catch your weight by going back to the starting position with both hands forming the same diamond shape.

Beginner Workout

  • Close Grip Bench Press – 4 Sets of 13 Reps
  • Dips – 3 Sets of 11 Reps
  • Pushdowns – 3 Set of 13 Reps

Intermediate Workout

  • Close Grip Bench Press – 4 Sets of 10 Reps
  • Dips – 4 Sets of 10  Reps
  • Seated Triceps Extensions – 4 Sets of 15 Reps
  • Pushdowns – 4 Sets of 15 Reps

Advanced Workout

  • Rope Extensions – 2 Sets of 15 Reps
  • Close Grip Bench Press – 3 Sets of 6 Reps
  • Seated Triceps Extensions – 3 Sets of 8 Reps
  • Weighted Drops – 2 Drop Sets* – Perform 8 Reps to failure then drop all weight and perform as many reps to failure
  • Clapping Diamond Push-Ups – 2 Sets to Failure

Key Components For Getting Ripped Starts With The Basics

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

Key components for getting ripped are mostly core strengthening exercises that help prepare the foundations for the body, to be able to start dishing out core-blasting exercises that packs a lot of punch, it is important to follow instructions carefully.

Key components for getting ripped help work wonders

Key components or getting ripped are, some examples, knowing the right moves to help you optimize your fitness goals and getting to where you want with the results.

Getting lean is where you want to be, for you to be able to establish a good working condition for the core muscle groups.

The essentials of fat loss and building muscle

Experts and nutritionists agree that muscle development, in this case core strength and structure, is governed by three factors; exercise, diet and rest.

You need to understand the dynamics of healthy living before you can start working your way to fitness and getting ripped.

You may work your butt off day in and day out, but if you continue to splurge on the wrong types of food and not get enough rest, then all your physical effort will just simply go to waste.

Be conscious of what you eat and what you work out

The first challenge to getting those ripped abs is to plan your meals and manage it. Don’t let your food manage you. Junk food is everybody’s favourite and I is wrong to think that you can eat a big bag of potato chips then burn it off in the gym.

Too bad it does not work that way. Processed and junk food does not have the nutrients your body need to stay healthy, except of course, that the only good you get out of it is that it tastes good.

So start removing unnecessary foods from your diet and strategize how you plan for your meals throughout the week.

You need protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals everyday so make sure you know the right amounts you need.

The value of training

Training does to your body what your food does for sustenance. You work out to develop the muscles in your body, to burn off fat and to keep your body in top shape. When the muscles in the body are subjected to stress like when you are lifting weights and stretching your muscles, it creates damage to the muscle fibers called microtears that pave the way for proteins to synthesize and product mass to ‘heal’ the damage.

Doing your regular exercise lets you develop more mass and burn fat.

Proper recovery

Your body needs the right time to recover from a hard and intense workout. Muscle recovery only takes place when you are at rest, because that is the time for the muscles to heal and grow.

Make sure to have at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Wake up during weekends at the same time you wake up during weekdays that way you do not get to disrupt your meal and rest schedules.

Minimize stress

When stressed, the body often resort to eating as a coping mechanism because it makes you feel good. Unconsciously at times you get to be surprised that you are already standing in front of a restaurant without even considering it, especially when you are stressed.

Stay consistent

You get ripped because you will it and you desire to get it. No haphazard decision can get you those enviable muscle tones because nothing ever happens overnight. After all, no pain no gain.

Genetic Testing Mistake Critical To Sudden Heart Death Diagnosis

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

Genetic testing for certain heart conditions lacked key elements to determine it affects people, especially through genetic markers that has led to the deaths of some of those who were suffering from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).

Genetic testing made mistakes

Surprisingly as it may seem, scientists have found that a mistake may have been responsible for HCM also known as sudden heart death, when conventional diagnostics failed to account for racial differences in the studies.

Published recently in the New England Journal of Medicine, the disease is believed to have more implications rather than just considered as an inherited disease. The also cautioned that this may bode the same for other illnesses that may be diagnosed through genetic testing.

HCM got into the spotlight back in the early 80’s when some healthy athletes, including basketball star Hank Gathers, suddenly died from this condition. Experts found that Gathers and the rest were positive of the condition and concluded that it was generally passed on through the genes.

Much more complicated

Things, however, took a sudden turn when scientists realized that there is something more to HCM than just an inherited disease, but they also claim that the genes controlling it depend on certain mutations that were not identified through the conventional diagnostic tests.

They claim that any one of about a dozen gene types can be damaged that could lead to illness and could even result to different mutations in which these diseases could be passed on.

Another surprising development was that some of the variants tagged as harmful were actually found to be benign.

“We saw that the variants that were ostensibly causing disease seemed to add up to much more than one in 500,” says Dr. Isaac Kohane of the Harvard Medical School, whose team conducted the study.

Because of the lack of properly adding African Americans to be part of the control group, scientists were stumped in realizing their mistake which is a crucial factor to help determine the onset or development of the disease.

Scientists are also hoping to make the study benefit the medical community and to find the means to treat this condition and what tell-tale signs to look out for.

“Is HCM one of these diseases you either have or you don’t?” Kohane asks. “Or is it like almost everything else we’re coming to learn about, where it’s a matter of degree.”

“It just turns out that the genome is as complicated and as unique as each one of us,” Kohane added.

Eye Test For Parkinson’s May Lead To Painless Diagnosis

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

Eye test for Parkinson’s disease may have been an unlikely answer to help diagnose and detect it back then, but scientists may be on to something that could revolutionize the way we evaluate the disease and develop new strategies to treat, better yet, prevent it.

Eye test for Parkinson’s Disease is better since it is non-invasive

This was the latest discovery by a team of scientists from the University College London (UCL), who claim that they may be able to find a cheaper and painless method to detect Parkinson’s disease.

This even goes way better because the researchers believe that it could even allow doctors to identify if a person is at risk and address symptoms before it develops.

Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative brain disease the affects an estimated 1 in every 500 people and has been determined to be the second most common neurodegenerative disease worldwide.

A revolutionary breakthrough

This breakthrough discovery has been ecstatically welcomes by may organizations, include Parkinson’s UK who claimed that this is a ‘significant step’ in the battle waged against this debilitating disease.

“These tests mean we might be able to intervene much earlier and more effectively treat people with this devastating condition,” says research lead Professor Francesca Cordeiro, adds that their research discovery is a “potentially revolutionary breakthrough in the early diagnosis and treatment of one of the world’s most debilitating diseases”.

The discovery came after the researchers were able to determine through their rests with lab rats that there are marked changes behind the eyes, even earlier than symptoms of the disease could start to show.

Symptoms and diagnosis

Presently, there are no means to find out is a person may incur the disease, which is usually characterized by tremors, muscle stiffness, deteriorating physical condition, atrophy and eventually lead to reduced quality of life.

What makes it more difficult is that the symptoms only begin to occur once the brain cells have already started to incur damage. To date, Parkinson’s disease could still not be diagnosed through any recognized means possible like blood tests or brain scans.

Parkinson’s disease is not the direct cause of death, but is more associated with the health complications that arises due to the effects of the disease.

Defence Against Disease Starts From The Gut

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

Defence against disease may also play a key role in developing positive behavioural traits that help determine the quality of your peer and social interactions.

Defence against disease in a different way

Researchers have recently found out that there is strong evidence suggesting that there is a direct link between the brain and gut to play a major role in determining how the immune system works.

The study was conducted under the auspices of the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

Scientists suggest that the immune system does play a role in controlling human behavior and indicative of how people conduct their social interactions.

An immune molecule responsible for behavioural response

The study reveals that when researchers blocked a certain immune molecule in the brain of test mice, brain activity suddenly went haywire and resulted to an abnormally aggressive behavior.

However, when the molecule was re-activated, the aggressive behavior died down and went back to normal.

“The brain and the adaptive immune system were thought to be isolated from each other, and any immune activity in the brain was perceived as sign of a pathology.

And now, not only are we showing that they are closely interacting, but some of our behaviour traits might have evolved because of our immune response to pathogens.

It’s crazy, but maybe we are just multicellular battlefields for two ancient forces: pathogens and the immune system. Part of our personality may actually be dictated by the immune system,” says research lead Jonathan Kipnis, PhD, director for the Center for Brain Immunology and chairman of the Department of Neuroscience.

Kipnis was also part of the research team that found a link between the immune system and the brain.

Interferon Gamma molecule

Kipnis points out that the subject immune molecule that controls social behavior is a cytokine called the interferon gamma (G). It is normally produced by the immune system as the body responds to harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses and even parasites, where it inhibits neurons that signal the prefrontal cortex of the brain.

Without this molecule playing its role in suppressing neurons in this part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex would go into a hyperactive state, thus as seen on the test mice.

The researchers believe that with these findings, it is important to take good care of the gut and ensure that it is healthy by making sure that it  always gets the proper nutrition and care.

Weight Loss With Super Foods As Your Best Options

https://www.positivehealthwellness.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Weight.png

Weight loss with super foods are far better solutions to burn those extra calories compared to taking fat-loss medicines and may have long-term damaging effects to the body.

Weight loss with super foods for better health

Getting slim and trim but most of the time are resolved to the idea of eating less to let the body burn fat. But science now suggests that burning fat can be more healthier and life-preserving by looking at superfoods to jumpstart your fat-burning potential.

Superfoods are whole foods that are packed with a powerhouse of nutrients and antioxidants that are more commonly found in nature.

However, it would be best to note that along with diet comes good exercise and rest, which should always be primary factors to consider to optimize your fat burning program.

Tomatoes

This is one of nature’s superfoods that packs a lot of punch. Aside from the fact that it is rich in fiber and loaded with heart-healthy cancer-busting antioxidants, a Japanese research team discovered that it contains a fat-burning compound called 9-oxo-ODA.

Hot peppers

Not only does it add a kick to your foods, hot peppers are actually good for helping you trim off that excess fat. These include habaneros, jalapenos and chipotles, which are among the most common hot pepper varieties that are used as common ingredients.

Spices

There’s no better way to describe the phrase “spice of life” than symbolizing it with the spices that we use to season our food. Natural spices like black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, curry and mustard seed, among many others, possess thermogenic properties that help boost metabolism.

Apples

As they say, an apple a day keeps the doctor away and you may just want to add a couple more when you know that it can help you burn fat in the body. Apples have large amounts of pectin, a substance that binds with water to limit the cells from absorbing more fat. It is also high in fiber that makes you feel full longer.

You can best get these benefits by making sure that you find the organic ones, leave the skin on and to chew your apples well to get the maximum benefits.

Pears

The pear is related to the apple and as such, also contains a good amount of pectin to aid in optimized fat absorption. Just like with any other fruit, you can just take a bite out of it or make it as an ingredient for salads and other foods.

Green tea

Drinking green tea can help you shed off those unwanted fat. In a study recently published in The Journal of Nutrition researchers found that athletes who took in four to five cups of green tea daily coupled with exercise lost more body fat compared to a group of people with the same exercise routines but did not drink it only after two weeks. This is due to the antioxidant called catechins that help prevent body fat from being stored.

Almonds

Snacking on almonds would give you one of the most natural fat-burners. Studies among the obese and overweight showed that having a quarter cup of almonds when combined with a calorie-restricted diet, showed a 62% reduction in weight after just two weeks.

The Journals of the International Society of Sports Nutrition claims that almonds are rich in the amino acid L arginine that burns fat and carbs during workouts.

Make sure that you incorporate these foods into your diet, not only will it give you ‘a lot of health benefits, it will also make you burn off those nagging and unsightly fat.
