Every time someone mentions the cannabis plant, we instantly associate it with concepts like “illegal” and “drugs” but that’s just because we know so little about the cannabis plant. There are two main types of ingredients found in the plant and they are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). While marijuana plants are grown specifically for extracting the psychoactive substance THC, hemp is grown under conditions that increase its CBD content. Often hailed as both a potential “miracle plant” and as the most misunderstood herb of all time, cannabis still holds many mysteries which modern medical science is continuously trying to unveil. In the meantime, hemp as a dietary supplement is already providing a lot of the benefits that we never previously knew would be coming from the same plant that gave us weed!

6 Ways to Diminish your Chemical Intake

According to research, there are over 82,000 synthetic chemicals in the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the things that surround us or come directly in contact with our skin. Such chemicals include phthalates, PCBs, and Bisphenol A among others. This awareness should push us to find ways to diminish our chemical intake. Reducing the amount of chemical load and the number of toxins we carry is vital. However, you can make the decision to live a cleaner life by diminishing your chemical intake in the following ways:

Using Health and Beauty Products with Fewer Chemicals

Your skin is an organ too. As such, it absorbs everything that you put on it. Therefore, it is important to use bathing, grooming and beauty products that do not contain any harsh chemicals or ingredients. Most makeup products contain phthalates and Triclosan, two endocrine disruptors that should be avoided.

Open your Windows Daily

It is important to open your windows daily, especially after you shower. This lets much-needed fresh air into your home. Many people fail to realize that indoor air quality can be worse than outdoor air. Let in the sunshine. After all, it is the perfect anti-bacterial agent.

Choose Natural Fibers

Look around your house. Chemicals are found in household dust and account for 30% of the weight in synthetic form. Therefore, you should choose natural furniture, fiber rugs, and carpets if possible. While natural fiber can be expensive, it is well worth the cost.

Taking steps to reduce your own chemical load will also reduce the chemical load of those around you. Your health should always come first at all times.
