Many Still Believe Vaccines And Autism Are Linked

With the growing public clamour demanding for answers whether vaccines cause autism or not, celebrity actor Robert de Niro challenged doctors to come clean and explain the ideas revolving around it.

Scientists on the other hand, claimed that there is no need to explain, since there have been studies conducted that support the claim that vaccines and autism are linked, only that some influential people refuse to have these studies made public

This came in the heels of a documentary film that was pulled out by
De Niro from the Tribeca Film Festival entitled “Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Conspiracy.”

This was in reaction by De Niro  whether vaccination plays a role in affecting the brain that  causes autism as a side effect , for which many scientists have been contending time and again.

De Niro has an 18-year old son who has autism and is entertaining the idea that the condition may have been responsible for it, although he did not categorically say that it did.

In response to De Niro’s postulations, the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration stand by the claim that ‘vaccines are among the safest medical interventions known, as they pointed out independent academic scientists from universities, medical facilities and health centers and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

They also stressed that although there are no treatments or drugs that are 100% safe, vaccines are far safer than the health conditions and diseases they prevent.

The World Health Organization reported that measles vaccines saves an estimated 1 millions of lives each year and by far, noted that there were 57 people who died due to measles vaccines.

The scientific committee is wondering why the people refuse to believe the results of numerous studies related to it,. but as De Niro pointed out, the reasons, one of which is mercury-based thimerosal which was previously used as a preservative for vials containing the vaccines.

Although these have already been removed from child’s vaccines early on, but the controversy remains as there are also reports linking autism to genetic links, some evidence of infections during pregnancy and antidepressant use and autism.

The CDC, in a separate report said that about 1 in 68 children were identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and is more common among boys in a ratio of 1:42 compared to girls (1:189.)
