What do you think are the best sources of protein for the body? As you get to struggle in the battle for the protein warriors, you may want to compare between plant and animal sources and see which one emerges as the ultimate winner.

Studies have shown that plant sources could be the best contenders against meat proteins, researchers believe that plants have an edge with a broader range of benefits due to naturally occurring phyto and micro nutrients that will give the competition a run for its money.

Ground Beef Versus Black Beans

Both sources can be matched to see which can provide the most amount of proteins need by the body. But when it comes to a comparison between the nutritional and environmental impacts, the black bean will emerge victorious, aside from it being more abundant, easy to prepare and consume – best of all, it provides more nutrients in a bowl compared to a piece of grilled hamburger patty.

Steak Versus Cashews

Surprisingly, a cup of cashews contain the same amount of proteins than a four-ounce steak. Aside from the fact that cashews pack a lot more punch than its steak contender, the same amount of protein in the curled nuts is more healthier with an additional 83 milligrams of magnesium, 187 milligrams of potassium and 168 milligrams of phosphorus per ounce.

Turkey Meat Ersus Pumpkin Seeds

A 3-ounce servicing size of turkey meat contains 26 grams of protein, which is lesser compared to an approximate serving size of ¾ cup of pumpkin seeds that contains some 30 grams of protein. Pumpkin seeds also contain other essential nutrients of copper, Vitamin K, E and B, as well as manganese and phosphorous.

Chicken Breast Versus Lentils

A 3-ounce chicken breast almost similar to the amount of protein in a cup and a half of lentils, is a gram short of protein content at 26 grams while lentils have 27 grams. What’s more, lentils contain good amounts of dietary fibre, phosphorous and manganese, which makes lentils the clear winner in this battle.

 Salmon Versus Peanut Butter

Both are good contenders are they contain good amounts of Omega- 6 fatty acids, potassium and protein. But when it comes to nutritional content, peanut butter contains dietary fibre magnesium and Vitamin E.

Tilapia Versus Spirulina

Both come from the ocean, but the difference is that tilapia is an animal while spirulina is a plant-based algae. Both can potentially remove toxins from the body like arsenic, but spirulina has additional potassium, calcium, zinc and essential amino acids that help reinforce protein in the body.

So it seems like plant-based protein sources are showing signs of being the winner in this epic battle for recognition as the best sources for proteins beneficial to man.
