Numerous studies show that the consumption of deep-sea fish like salmon and other plant-based sources give proof that Omega 3 rich foods are responsible for lowering the incidence of heart attacks or myocardial infarctions by as much as 10 percent.
“Our results lend support to the importance of fish and omega-3 consumption as part of a healthy diet.” Other studies have found even more significant effects.” This, according to Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian, one of the study authors who conducted the study.
Dr. Mozaffarian pointed out that the heart-health effects of Omega 3 even came through with sex, age, ethnicity, diabetes incidence and medication have been factored in.
A separate Italian study also even claimed that survivors of a heart attack who supplemented 1 gram of Omega 3 for 3 years reduced chances of a sudden cardiac death by half.
The power of Omega 3
Omega 3 contains cholesterol lowering properties, reduces high blood pressure, decreases triglyceride concentrations and improves endothelial function.
Numerous studies have shown proof that Omega 3 is highly effective in counteracting cardiac arrhythmia, prevents thrombosis, prevents fatty deposits and fibrosis in the inner layer of the arteries and counteracts inflammation.
The different Omega 3 types
Contrary to common beliefs that Omega 3 fats are all the same, there is science to disprove all that.
There are two common beliefs that govern Omega 3 ideas which are marine animal source versus plant based Omega 3 fats and the difference between krill-based omega 3 and fish-based.
They also carry with them some different properties that are unique with the other. But truth be told, Omega 3 fat is good for heart health.
Omega 3 brings with it a plethora of benefits and is one of todays’ popular yet most effective substances that is known to have a large benefit to man.
Heart disease is one of the leading cause of deaths in the United States where almost 1 in every four Americans died due to a heart attack. More than half of the deaths were attributed to men.
