Numerous of studies went out last year on how soda can affect your body in the most horrible ways possible, increasing your risk of chronic diseases like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and more. This led into the decision of Pepsi Company to cut on sugar in their soda products.

Pepsi took this big step after consumers started to worry about the chemicals in soda. The company is still experimenting in the process, like cutting the artificial sweetener called Aspartame in their products last year, but reintroducing it in some of their products this year.

While most people will think Pepsi will become a “healthier” soda, this article by Nicole Lyn Pesce on New York Daily News clears this thought. Soda is still soda, and it has thousands of chemicals and sugars that make you fat and cause obesity:

In addition to the fact that Pepsi is cutting sugar in soda products, the company is also planning to cut back on sugar in their food products. These food products include Cheetos and Fritos, and Quaker Foods.
It’s impossible to stop people from consuming unhealthy food and drinks, especially soda, because it’s long been a part of our food consumption – aside from the fact that, well, they’re tasty and addicting. But what’s good about this step from Pepsi is that they’re actually thinking about the preferences of their consumers, especially now that there are thousands of studies that show the horrors of soda.
However, even though Pepsi is cutting sugar in soda, it’s still important to remember that soda will never be healthy enough to make it a daily drink. Moderate consumption is still recommended.
