Chemicals in E-cigarette Cause Lung Disease

There are over one billion smokers worldwide. About six million of these people die every year, with 600,000 of them are non-smokers exposed to secondhand smoke. Heart and lung diseases are the most common causes of these deaths.

The advancement in technology enabled the boom of electronic cigarettes, which are battery-operated cigarettes that deliver nicotine with chemical flavouring, and other artificial ingredients. They are so popular that there are 795 million US dollar sales in the year 2014 alone.

These are delivered in vapor, not in smoke, which is why people may think that they will keep them safe from the harms of tobacco, but they’re dead wrong.

There are over 7,000 electronic cigarette, or vaping, flavours on the market right now – fruit, candy, and cocktail, just to name a few. But while E-cigs are reportedly “95% less harmful than tobacco,” researchers analyzing flavouring chemicals found compounds previously linked to lung disease in several dozen types of flavoured E-cigs. These chemicals in e-cigarette are also the ones that make the youths addicted to it. These kids even start as early as in their 8th grade.

Smoking is, in fact, the leading cause of preventable death worldwide, whether you’re into tobacco or e-cigarettes. So if you have never smoked, like ever, then don’t even plan on starting it. Don’t think that it’s fun, because most of these users want to quit but could not. It’s not that simple when you’re already addicted to it.
