The majority of American consumers turn to over-the-counter drugs more than they turn to healthcare professionals to consult their condition. It’s because they’re cheaper, and come in handy, especially if there are no clinics or hospitals near you.

However, the risks are well-known, too. These include allergies, breathing problems, high blood pressure, immune system problems, and more. Painkillers have also been found to cause heart attacks and stroke.

So these over-the-counter drugs you need to be careful with may cause risks when consumed in high-doses for a long time. Almost all drugs are like that, anyways. The key is to drink them when they’re really needed, and not all the time.

In case you didn’t know, there are safer remedies that you can easily access in your kitchen to treat minor conditions, such as cold, flu and cough, and even your skin problems and wounds. For instance, garlic is great for flu and high blood pressure. Honey, lemon, apple cider vinegar, spices and herbs are some of the best products that may replace your medicine cabinet.
