Research Suggests Sugar May Increase Cancer Risk

There is no denying that sugar is almost everywhere and that adhering to a gluten-free diet is pretty much a hard endeavour right from the get-go. But perhaps it is high time you watch your sugar intake as researchers recently discovered that sugar may increase cancer. It looks like sweet sugar isn’t as sweet anymore.

Sugar may increase breast, lung cancer risk, study finds

Table sugar may increase the risk of breast cancer, according to a new animal study from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Previous research has drawn a link between higher sugar intake and breast cancer development, suggesting inflammation as a source, but the current study instead looked at the role of sugar in mammary gland tumor development. Read More…

They say too much of a good thing is a bad thing. And it looks the same can be said about sugar. That said, serious health issues linked to excessive sugar intake is not new, as too much sugar consumption can cause diabetes and obesity. Still, now that research suggests that sugar may increase cancer, it really looks like it is high time that we better control our sugar intake.
