The Society for Endocrinology researchers found that phenylalanine may contribute to protein’s ability in encouraging fat loss.

Mihai Andrei from ZME Science reports that a high-protein diet can contribute to fat-loss. Researchers revealed that phenylalanine, the amino acid produced after protein digestion, increases levels of the hormone responsible for telling us if we’re full. This in return lowers food intake and promotes weight loss.

This somehow suppresses your appetite. The amino acid produces the GLP-1 hormone which puts a leash on your appetite. Then, it lowers production of the hormone ghrelin, the one that increases hunger.
