TV Chef Says Be Bold On Sugar Tax

No matter how many reports go out elaborating how harmful sugary drinks are in our health, people are still consuming them. Well, what’s a cheeseburger or pizza without them, right?

But did you know that one can of Coke contains 10 teaspoons of sugar? That explains the blood sugar spikes and sluggishness you get after drinking it. Not to mention the fact that you are at a heightened risk of obesity if you consume it every day.

The sales of soft drinks actually dropped last year, which is definitely good news. And celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is one of the many health enthusiasts who hopes to maintain that decline. He wants the government to “be bold on sugar tax.” Read more in this report by Nick Triggle on BBC News:

Mr Oliver has been campaigning for the levy to be included in the forthcoming child obesity strategy.

Indeed, the government needs to be bold on sugar tax. It’s sad that it’s not open to this option. Hopefully, a better solution to reduce soda consumption will be introduced to the public soon.

But you can still find ways to reduce your consumption, even if you’re addicted to it! Try drinking more healthy drinks like lime juice, green smoothies, lemon water, or simply clean, pure water.

Just think of the harmful effects sugary drinks do to your body. They cause chronic diseases like cancers, type 2 diabetes, heart diseases and obesity. They even cause a decline in your brain health.
