How Can You Tell If You’ve Had Too Much Ibuprofen In One Day?

Medical Daily says that there would be times the pain is just intolerable. It seems like popping a couple of tablets is still not enough to give you relief. If you’re someone who likes to take this OTC painkiller, take heed of this advice.

It appears that taking too much of this drug can eventually lead to serious outcomes. Our body can only take as much and there’s a sure limit to what we can tolerate.

AlterNet says that even the most popular non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Motrin and Advil indicate warning labels that instruct individuals to limit their intake to only 1,200 milligrams per day.

That means that with 200-milligram pills, you can only take one every four hours. It is deemed as necessary for people to take a second pill if the first one doesn’t work.

While suggesting that people only take the minimum necessary to relieve their pain, they also say it is all right to take a second pill if one alone does not work. Taking two every six hours, a common strategy, would add up to a 1,600-milligram dose in one day. Read more…

US PressFrom says that these are the safest directions at the end of the scale. However, there are those that aren’t as well-defined. A website lists 3,200 as a safe dose for adults. Another article says that overdose symptoms are not likely to appear if someone has taken less than 100 milligrams per kilogram of their body weight.

This is just a friendly reminder that too much of something can’t be a good thing at all. There’s a need to monitor intake in order to prevent long-term side effects.
