Imperial.ac.uk says that 20 grams of nut consumption is all that you need for decreasing respiratory disease by half and diabetes by 40 percent.
The team looked into at least 29 studies which were published from around the world. It had a total of 819,000 participants with 12,000 cases of coronary heart disease, 9,000 cases of stroke, 18,000 cases of cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Nuts Cut The Risk Of A Wide Range Of Diseases
While there was some variation between the populations that were studied, such as between men and women, people living in different regions, or people with different risk factors, the researchers found that nut consumption was associated with a reduction in disease risk across most of them. NHS.UK says that this was a review which had a purpose in mind: to closely analyze the connection between nut consumption and health risks. There were past studies that suggested nuts are quite beneficial. But the researchers wanted to look at a bigger population by compiling literature.
The study was spearheaded by the researchers from Imperial College London and Norwegian University of Science and Technology. It was released in the journal BMC Medicine.
Nuts Cut Heart Disease And Cancer Risk
Previous studies have suggested an intake of nuts is beneficial, and some have found it could be linked with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.
