Researchers are encouraging people to be notice the device use and to take breaks. These numbers were noticed in Ontario. It ranges from moderate to even severe problems when it comes to using these gadgets.
What’s even more concerning is that there seems to be an uncontrollable need to use these devices according to a new survey. Scientists from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health conducted the survey to 3,000 adults in 2015.

CAMH.ca’s survey also depicted a lot of Ontario adults reported that texting and driving and increasing mental health issues. The results showed that 19 percent of the sample population aged 18-29 is experiencing moderate to severe problematic gadget usage that include but are not limited to computers and video game consoles.
This was the first time that the survey was able to calculate the impact of people’s reliance to this technology. These people begin their adolescent and adulthood stages by being exposed to social media, apps, video and entertainment available to them.

Windsor Star says that screen time has increased because all sorts of gadgets are now available for everyone. The use of these gadgets soared over the past 5-10 years according to Dr. Nigel Turner, Scientist in CAMH’s Institute for Mental Health Policy Research. He is also an expert in gambling and behavioural addictions.
He adds that while our understanding of the problem changes, we are aware that people end up compromising their daily activities like work and education because of excessive use.
