Falling down the stairs, no matter how funny you might think that is, actually causes thousands of deaths every year.
It’s a major hazard, especially when you have toddlers and kids at home. In fact, a study from the journal Pediatrics published in 2012 reported that there’s a child that is being rushed to the emergency room every six minutes, all because of a stair-related accident.

So lengthening stairs could save lives.. This may be small, but it’s a remarkable step to avoid these kinds of accidents that most of us didn’t know were that common.
Other ways to avoid stair-related accidents include assisting kids to go up and down, having a clear lighting and proper handrail, removing objects or toys around it, and ensuring that there are no water spills, especially if there’s no carpet. You may also put wall-mounted gates at the top and bottom of the stairs to protect your toddlers.
