According to the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU), 96.8 percent per 100 people have cellular phone service subscriptions in 2015. It’s not that surprising because we see cellphones everywhere we go. We mostly use them for texting and calling, and nowadays, people also rely on them for internet usage. It’s just hard to live without them, right?
We’ve heard a lot of studies that we all should avoid too much exposure to cellphones, as they emit radiation that may cause health problems. In fact, even the World Health Organization have classified them as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” back in 2011.
Now a new warning from medical experts warn parents to limit their child’s exposure to cellphones. Read on in this report by Danielle Dellorto on Today:
Pediatricians’ new warning: Limit children’s exposure to cellphones
There are now more cellphones in use in the United States than there are people. But how safe are they?
U.S. government agencies including the FCC (which decides how much radiation mobile phones are allowed to emit) say there is little to be concerned about. Read more…
For that reason, the best thing to do is to limit exposure to cellphones, most especially children, because their skull bones are thinner compared to adults, allowing for greater penetration of radiation. In addition to that, children’s cells reproduce faster, so they are more prone to aggressive cell growth. Even unborn babies can be affected!
Another tip is to use your phones when the reception is good. Weak reception uses more energy, and therefore emits more radiation.
Don’t assume that your phone is safer. Whether you have an Apple, Android, Nokia, Blackberry, flip phones, etc, they are all the same.
