We all know that we need to brush our teeth every after meal. It’s a very important part of our personal hygiene because it removes the bacteria that may lead to various infections and diseases.

An experiment conducted by the Applied Science team found a way to see your toothbrush under an electron microscope. And it’s quite surprising because it looks older when it’s new, while it looks newer when it’s old. Sounds weird, but it’s actually amazing. See the video in this report by Tom Hale on IFL Science:

Check Out An Old Toothbrush Vs A New Toothbrush Under An Electron Microscope

Right up there with a pair of fresh socks and clean bed sheets, there’s something very satisfying about a new toothbrush. But what’s going on at the microscopic level with those knackered toothbrushes that just don’t give you that squeaky clean feeling like they used to? Read more…

Now that we already saw our toothbrush under an electron microscope, we already have an idea of the horrors it may bring when we forget to change it every three to four months or after its bristles look splayed. We also need to wash it thoroughly and store it properly after every use.

And of course, never ever share your toothbrush with others, no matter how close you are with them. The mouth is home to millions of germs, and it is very possible for infections to pass on from person to person through a toothbrush.
